Birthday Card

Hello Folks.  I trust you all had a lovely time over Christmas.  And to those of you who did not take part for different reasons I send you my love, and pray that next year will be better for you.
We had a really nice Christmas with lots of lovely gifts from Family & Friends, then on Boxing Day my youngest daughter Carolyn , Neil , Hamish & Molly arrived and after a lovely meal that was totally made and served by them we prepared to party over at Annie and Ronnies house,  where all the other family members had gathered.  What a fabulous time was had by all of us.  I just love the Family time, and as we get older it certainly means so much more.  Three of my Grandchildren have birthdays just after Christmas,  and Saturday was Julies Birthday, Hamish is on the 30th and Molly on the31st, minutes before the bells.  
Today I will show you the card I made for Julie.  It was a kit bought many moons ago when Hunkydory was  fairly new,  put at the back of a cupboard until this week.   Thank- you to everyone who sent me the most beautiful cards that I will put in to a special box marked with the year.  Lots of lovely e-cards too and I so appreciate them all.   Enjoy the weekend.

Merry Christmas & Happy Crafting New Year

Hello My Friends & Fellow Bloggers ,   This card is just for you.   I would like to take this opportunity to Thank You all for All for the support you have given me in the last year ,   both in crafting and my personal issues too.  Hopefully next year will be different,  as Andrew goes in to get the first of two knees done on the 7th January and we are hoping it goes ahead this time round.  
Enjoy this Special time of year with your loved ones and my thoughts are with the people still suffering from losses of loved ones too.    The tragic accident that happened yesterday in Glasgow, is very much in our thoughts at the moment too
Still got some baking to do, but no hurry for that.   Just got to do a Golden Wedding card for 2nd January and that's me for this year.   Thanks for all the beautiful cards that I have received this Christmas too.

Christmas Card Club. Challenge 26. Non-Traditional colours

Good Morning Everyone.    Hopefully you are all well and your preparation for the festive season are nearly finished.   I still have a few presents to wrap and cards to make for the neighbours etc,  but I do love this time of year.
Over at the CCC, this challenge 26 is our last one for this year and the theme of non-traditional colours was chosen by the lovely  Gran Margaret.
This is the first time I have used these colours for a Christmas card,  but I love it so much,   the card itself is an 8 X 8 card that I layered with kraft card and I cut a frame from corrugated card,  and then distressed both pieces with Walnut stain distress ink. My centrepiece is a burlap paper with added sentiments . Then I added the stunning reindeer, another one of TH dies and and I tied a sentiment round his neck, ( no harm was done to the him ) .
The Tim Holtz  poinsettia was cut from Craftwork cards paper pad and the TH holly leaves were heavily distressed with a sand block.   Hope you like my card as much as I did making it.

Christmas Tussie Mussie

Good Morning Folks.   Well actually it is the worst morning for ages,  high winds and heavy showers,  ferry services to the Western Isles have been cancelled too.  No snow as yet, but as we are on the coast its not something we see a lot of here.   Hope you are staying safe & warm.   15 days to go till the big day, all my cards are ready for posting, but it won't be today as we have hospital appointments at 4. 30.
No,  I have not taken leave of my senses,  but last year I saw lots of these on American blogs as decorations.   They are called Tussie Mussies  and this one is for Annie.   It was great fun to make,  but takes a lot of filling too.  The actual cone itself started out with  beautiful papers from Craftwork Cards,  and I lined it twice,  got the shape by punching holes in 2 sides and threaded them with silk ribbon to make it cone shaped.  I then stitched some layers of lace and a tag to hang it with, before adding some oasis and filling it up .  Most of the embellishments were bought from the Ribbon Girl who many of you will know,   I love all their products that keep us crafters happy.   The gold Organza ribbon that I have tied in a double bow really is to die for.  The tiny apples and berries along with the cinnamon sticks  and the gold poinsettia are also from the RG collection.  The rest was bits left over from last year.  I added some chocolates on cocktail sticks to the finished decoration .
News just in today. Andrew got the date for his operation ( third time lucky ) 7th January and the op on the 8th.   As most of you know our eldest Grandson gets married on the 31st January,  so hopefully he will still be able to go and enjoy the occasion.    Love & Hugs Rita xxxx

Christmas Candle and Matching Box

Hello my friends and fellow bloggers.   We have had the most beautiful sunshine today and it is still in the cloudless sky.  I t certainly has been a lot chillier too,  but if you wrap up well and stay nice and warm it was a lovely day for a walk.
Yesterday, after doing the chores I managed to decorate  a candle  using an image from a CD rom on the front,  and stamped on tissue and put this lovely wee verse on the back.   Today,  I had a bit of me time this morning and decided to make a box to hold the candle.   The stunning gold poinsettia  and the tiny fir cones were from the Ribbon Girl if you have not visited you will be amazed at the stock of interesting things they keep.    The little sentiments were from Katie Sue many many years ago when flowersoft was starting out.
What a mess I have to tidy up,  it was really neat and tidy this morning and now its a tip again. 
 I don't have as much time as I used to,  but I'll try and keep up with you All.    Hugs Rita xxxx
