Superman Card

Well Folks, I hope you are all well and managing some crafty time. I really do not know where June went to, the months are flying past and holidays looming too. We are just having a change of coastlines this year, from West to East as we are going to Carolyn's for two weeks in mid July as we are swapping houses this year..

Annie has just told me some exciting news, that we are now booked to go to a Finnabair workshop in Glasgow. So I am really looking forward to that.  My card to-day is one that I was asked to make for a couple who have just adopted a 2 year old boy.  Isn't it wonderful for people who cannot have children to finally give a child their love.

To-day I am doing something that's been needing done for a while, in fact it will probably take me two days.  As well as my craft room I have a walk-in-cupboard, but it stores lots of my crafty hobbies over the years and that's the one I'm attacking today.  My fabrics and bearmaking  supplies are in the loft space, but I'm not going there at the moment. So if I don't appear very often ,you'll know where I am.

Happy Days

Good Morning my friends.  Here I am after having had a very busy week-end with family visits etc, not that I am complaining. I feel so lucky that my family are around me most of the time and I love them all to bits.
So a little story of the fabulous day I had yesterday when Annie and I picked up Astrid  from the station on her visit to us.  We all really got on from the minute we met and the day just got better and better. Annie was so organised and had everything all set up for a great crafty day, so after some tea & cakes we started to craft, exchanging lots of tips along the way. Astrid herself has a wonderful knowledge of craft and art and soon it was lunchtime. Annie had prepared a lovely lunch for us and again more chat throughout, I don't think our tongues stopped all day. We exchanged some gifts and Annie gave us both a super goody bag of things she bought whilst in Germany.  The day went past much to quickly and before we knew it, we had to get Astrid to the station for her journey home.  So thanks to both Annie and Astrid for a wonderful day and a new friendship has begun. I have a few pictures of our day and I'm sure you can see some more on the girls blogs too.  I'm off to lunch to-day with my friend Jan, so no crafting till I get back at least.   Hope you all have a wonderful day and that crafter's of the world unite.    Hugs Rita xx

A Stitch in Time

Good Morning Crafters.  I'm afraid its went from sunshine to being very overcast here to-day.  But its still very warm and humid.  My OH and I celebrated our 55 th Anniversary yesterday, how we ever reached this milestone I'll never know.  It really was a family day and we both enjoyed that.
This was a Pincushion I made for Carolyn's birthday as both my girls sew, and Thanks to my dear friend Anne who sent me one as gift at Christmas, then kindly sent me 2 bobbins so that I could make one for both girls. I still have Annie's to finish.  My only son Alisdair does not do craft of any kind, but he enjoys his sports.  Enough of my ramblings as we are going out for lunch today.
Hope you all have a great weekend.  I doubt very much if will manage to blog as Carolyn & Hamish are coming to stay, and are going to pay a visit  to Aunt Annie as well.   Hugs Rita xxx 

Birthday Roses

A very Good Morning to everyone.  Its a fabulous day here and the sky is a beautiful blue. Washing out and chores all done too (could find more if I'm honest) but I'm going to enjoy the day.  Today is my younger daughter's birthday and here is the card I made specially for her.
The idea came from a card that I saw and vaguely tried to copy.  Its made from one sheet of A4 card and  its the folds that make the card.  Its from Cardmaking downloads and I just love roses,  so here is the finished card.  I gave the decoupaged roses a few coats of decoupage varnish, added some leafy swirls and a few pearls to complete my card.  Hope you All enjoy your day .   Hugs Rita  xxxx

Come Fly with Me

Hello my dear friends in Blogland.  No, I'm not flying off to some exotic place, my feet for the moment are firmly planted in Scotland.
 I'd also like to welcome my new followers too, and and I hope you might get some inspiration from my blog.

Now, this canvas has been on the go since before Christmas last year and apart from giving it a coat of Gesso, nothing else was done.  Mainly because I could not get my head round what to do as it was my first attempt at a canvas. However, I came across it again recently and thought I would give it one more attempt.  So I started off with crunched up tissue paper and after coating the canvas with gesso, I gently put it on, even round the sides. I then decided to distress it with  DI.Gathered twigs and Peackock feathers before using the chicken wire stamp from Sam Poole.
Now for the bit that terrified me was adding the bright colours of Radiant Rain inks in Poppy Red and Cinnamon to make a centre piece that I could work on.  I used a pen-touch gold pen to gild the cage and once it was dry I used patina wax to add some highlights, adding to that the Marianne die 'Bird of Paradise' that I shaded with Salty Ocean and gathered Twigs.  I rusted the letters FLY, added the lace and  a birds nest made from netting and pearl eggs. The wings,  the sentiment and art were all highlighted with Cosmic shimmer patina wax. I did give it a few dabs of treasured gold  wax also. Sorry to be a bit long-winded with what I did to achieve my finished work.

Unconditional Love...

Hello Folks this Beautiful Sunday afternoon.  We have had a busy morning with it being Father's day and so the family came for a visit too, I love to see my family at any time, and Father was well and truly spoiled to-day.   I thought I'd give my colouring another go and who better to practice on but a Sarah Kay image, I've had this stamp a long time and think I've only used it once. Still got a way to go yet methinks. Anyway, my base card is white, and I added dark blue paper and a pretty background paper that was from Hunkydory ages ago.  I've used SB  Resplendant Rectangles to matt and layer the image. The bow was made from crinkly ribbon that I used in my bear-making days, and to the tiny label I added a pretty silk rose, with some card candy to finish.  Its so hot outside I came in to cool down a bit, not often we can say that.  Long may it continue.  Hopefully you are all sharing the same good weather.  Hugs Rita xxx

Daisy Daisy....

Good Morning my friends in Blogland.  Beautiful morning here in Ayrshire to-day., so very apt for card too.
My card is an A5 white centura pearl card that has been matted and layered with a piece of pale yellow linen card.  I then embossed a panel of white that I gently distressed with Squeezed Lemonade DI. I've used Floral Oval. dies that have again been edged with SL.  The sentiment was stamped on to Nestabilities Labels 4.   As most of you know I'm addicted to the flower dies by Susan Tierney Cockburn, so I could not resist adding some little daisies to finish off my card.   Hope you all have a wonderful day.   Hugs Rita xxx

Welcome Home card

Hello Folks. My card to-day was one I made to welcome Annie and Ronnie back home. I so loved this image and thought the bright colours of the flowers would cheer them up. Both of them are still very tired ,but were so pleased to return to their own cosy nest.   It was such a long journey over 2 days, but I'm sure things will improve over the next month or so and although he is in such a lot of pain ,he is trying to be brave about his ordeal.
If like me you like this image you can get it over at the Magic Garden .  The sentiment is a favourite one from Inkylicious and of course the Craft Stamper this month provided the Live, Laugh, Love.  Hope things are fine with you and I feel more settled now that my family are all safe at home.  Hugs Rita xx

Thank-You card.

Hello my friends, I was going to start off my post and apologise for being AWOL, but then I thought, probably everyone else was making the most of this glorious weather too.  We have to make the most of it while it lasts.   My card to-day is another one for my box. I coloured the image ages ago and it really was in the maybe bin. The Sarah Kay image was coloured with promarkers ...... I think I like my pencils better.   and cut with Floral Ovals die. The card itself was a stepper card from the Hougie book and was very simple to make.  I used an embossing folder for the backing on the main part and with the addition of a couple of sentiments my card was finished.
  I'm getting so excited now as Annie and Ronnie are on the first part of their journey home and I'll see them to-morrow.   Its been a long month.   Hugs Rita xx

Get Well Card and the 'Victoria' bear Winner.

Hello folks, what a wonderful few days we have had.  I hold my hands up to enjoying some sunshine instead of creating, so I hope you'll forgive me. Welcome to my newest followers, and I hope you all enjoy visiting my blog from time to time and maybe find some inspiration.    I used Mr Generator to pick the Winner of Little Victoria and it came up with Number 20 who is Hazel.  Congratulations Hazel.   Sorry I don't know how to put Mr Random on my Blog Post.  So Hazel will you please get in touch to claim your prize..   Thank-you all again for your very kind comments about my bears, I wish I could give you one each, but I think my poor hands would object.
My Dear Daughter Annie and her husband are coming home this week-end. They are having to travel by Ferry from Hamburg to Newcastle and then home to Scotland . Ronnie's firm has organized a Range Rover for both of them to travel right to their door. So it will be Great Day here on Sunday. Of course we will have to wait till he makes a full recovery before we hold any Celebrations.  Thank-you all for your thoughts and best wishes as they were so much appreciated.

This was the Get Well card that I made for my son-in-law. I saw the idea on a show by Kathryn Sturrock and loved her idea, although I changed the size etc. The stamps are from Sheena Douglas 'Highland Silhouette'  and the background was created with distress inks that I flicked with water. I was really pleased that it turned out so well. The tartan is Morrison as that is Ronnie's clan.  I had to make a really deep box as I forgot the depth of the acetate on the front of the card.   Another day off to-morrow as we both have appointments.   Keep Well and Carry On Crafting.    Hugs Rita xxx

Sweet Violets

Hello my friendly bloggers.  Hopefully you are having beautiful sunshine, its so hot to-day ,but I dare not complain.  Doesn't it make such a difference when the weather is so nice, the garden is blooming and the washing gets dried
Anyway, enough of my ramblings and on to my card. It started out because I made some of Susan Tierney Cockburn's  Pansy and Violets.  Very small to work with ,but I loved making them and that's what matters.  So when they were finished of course I really had to make a card.
Its a 6 X 6 pre-scored card  and I created a border with the Tonic studio daisy punch.  I matted on the BP in a lovely lavender print ( no idea where I bought it ),  as it was to be a Thank-You card I wanted to keep it plain, so I only used the window die and some gems.  Thank-you so much for the lovely comments you always leave on my posts.   I'm off to sit in the garden with my afternoon coffee.   Hugs Rita xx
