Vintage Card and Gift

Good Morning my lovely friends and followers.  Its a beautiful day again here in the West of Scotland, long may it continue.  I have been busy working on a few projects lately and thought you might like to see some of them.  The one I am showing you to-day is my take on the card /gift box, that can be used for sweets, but I chose to put tea lights in mine.  I used a cream linen card that was scored and distressed, added some free magazine papers to form my background. The picture is one I have had for ages and was from one of the vintage picture blogs. I distressed it to make it look very old and gave it a few cracks here and there. The roses are from Wild Orchid who do the most beautiful flowers. The beautiful pins were a gift from blogging friend Sassy who makes them herself. Lace and pearls are from my stash. The sentiment is from my favourite Inkylicious stamp set.  I'm sure some of you have done this before and can maybe help more with the instructions, as I forget where I got it from originally, not like me at all as I do try and log where I find things.  Hope you all have a lovely day.  Hugs Rita xxx

Ruby Wedding Card

Good Morning Folks,  I hope you have the spring sunshine, as its a beautiful morning here in the West of Scotland.  My card to-day is for a Ruby Wedding, and I just love the decoupage image I used.  This one I have had since I started card-making and it was from the ' Lilac Garden'.  There is about 5 layers of decoupage on it, but when you see it in reality it looks so life like. My card is an 8 X 8 again and layered with ruby coloured patterned card.  I used my current favourite dies from SB again and added the image.  The corners were a Marianne die that I distressed with aged mahogany DI. I added the sentiment and a few ruby gems to finish the card.  We have appointments this morning ,but I will be back and catch up with your blogs later in the day.  Happy Crafting.  Hugs Rita xxxx

Beautiful Roses

Good Morning all my blogging friends and a very warm welcome to all my new followers. I hope I can inspire you in some little way on your crafting journey.
Had a lovely day out with my eldest daughter Annie yesterday, so did not get much time to craft.  This is the card I made for the Diamond couple, its not as elaborate as the family ones I have shown recently as I thought it better to stick to a smaller and plainer card.  I used White, Lilac and Purple card for my colours on this one.  I added the largest die cut out  from Resplendent Rectangles to add my roses image, then distressed the edges with dusty concord DI to add a contrast to the white card. Finished it off with lace and and a purple organza bow and a few diamonds.   Another beautiful day here, so I'm off to finish a Ruby Wedding card now.   Take Care whatever your doing and have Good Day.  Hugs Rita xxx

Double Easel Card

Hello Again Folks.  Would you believe its snowing here , but its very fine and probably won't last.  To-days card is one I made for my 2 oldest Grand-Daughters to give to their Gran & Papa on Tuesday for their Diamond Wedding.  It is becoming harder to do something different, or maybe its just me. However, I decided on a double easel card since it was from the two girls.  The papers I used are from American Crafts ' Spring Feast ' pad, and they are absolutely stunning and a pleasure to work with.  I cut two Spellbinders Lace doily motifs and they fitted perfectly for my 4" squares. The image I've had for ages and use it often, so maybe you have seen it before. I then added the sentiments along with some little roses to make the easel stand.  I had to make a matching box as it was too deep for an envelope. I need to make more flowers as my flower box is empty again, so that will keep me busy to-day. Gatefold Card

Good Morning to all my blogging friends. The sun is still shining here in the West of Scotland, but it is a tad chilly too.  I think I must be getting slower in making my cards as this one took almost a day to create.  Its called an 'Interlocking Gatefold Card',  designed by fellow blogger Becca Feeken who kindly did a tutorial way back in June last year.  My base card is 8 X 8 and I used white hammered card and then after using the tutorial I added Teal, Silver and Turquoise to add my colours.  I used Spellbinders Marvelous Squares to create the interlocking pieces, the only other die I used was the Champagne glass from Marianne dies.  The large diamonte in the centre was one of a few that Molly gave me after picking them up at a boot sale, she thinks like her Gran.  I made a wallet for this one as it is for another family member.  I still have two more cards to do for this same occasion, so I hope I'm not boring with them.  I hope you all have a great crafting day .  I so appreciate all the lovely complimentary comments that has been left on my blog.    Hugs Rita xx

 

 

Diamond Wedding Card

Good Morning Everyone.  The sun is shining and the snowdrops and grape hyacinths are showing their heads in the garden.  Doesn't it make you feel so much better after the horrible weather we have had over the winter.   My card to-day is one of a few I am making for members of my Daughter-in-Law's family.  Her parents are celebrating 60 years of marriage on the 27th February.  This is the first of them, its an 8 x 8 card and I decided to make my own version of the shadow box card that my blogging friend Brenda Brown did for Valentines Day.  I thought at first it might be too heavy, but I went ahead anyway, as you do. The papers were from our very own Astrid MacLean who kindly gives us a Friday Freebie every week and I fell in love with recent ones, so my theme was based around the papers.  I think the sun has played tricks with my contrasting card as it was a dull silver colour, and to finish it off there are 60 diamond gems around the card.   I also made a matching bag.  I have used everything on Astrid's sheet, and the finished card worked out perfectly.   Hope you all enjoy your day.  Hugs Rita xxx

A Scottish Wedding Card

Hello my crafty friends.  Well, I have thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent with my younger grandchildren last week, they went home on Friday afternoon and of course, the house was so quiet once again.  We were so busy every day and sometimes till late at night too.  Both Molly and Hamish made Origami boxes by following the tutorial all by themselves as I was designing a dress for my daughter & her friend.  We went Ice Skating on the Thursday before going out for a meal as it was Valentines Day. I only managed the occasional comments on some of your blogs and I'm sorry I could not have done more. 
My card to-day is a Wedding card that is going to Australia, and it was one I was asked to do by my daughter in law.  I used 350gsm hammered card to make a 5 x 7 base. Using mostly dies and tartan card I managed to create a card that was 'Scottish'  I added some pearls and of course some heather tied with a white organza bow to finish it off. The box is really quite plain with the addition of another die.  Now I have 3 Diamond Wedding cards to make and a Ruby Wedding one too, so need to get my thinking cap on for those. A Little bit Blue

Hello Folks,  I hope you have all had a lovely week-end, despite the weather. As from to-morrow I'm having a few days off as my youngest daughter Carolyn and my two younger Grandchildren Molly & Hamish are coming to spend a few days with us, and more than likely we will be crafting at some point during their stay.  However, to-day I'm showing a special birthday card that was a commission and I hope that you like what I've done.  I used hammered card and made it an 8 X 8 easel card.  The birthday girl likes shopping, so I have used some designer bags etc.  The background is Navy card and I added to that spellbinders Resplendent Rectangles in white and navy.  The corners are Marianne and I highlighted them with distress ink using stormy sky.  I also made a matching wallet as a finishing touch.  I will try and find time to comment on your blogs at some point in the day.

Engagement Card

Good Morning folks.  We have a dry & sunny morning here with not a breath of wind at all.  To-day's card was made as a commission for a recent engagement. I really find it hard to define this type of card from a wedding card, but maybe that's just me.  I started off with an 8 X 8  ivory hammered card and added a layer of lilac then another layer of ivory that I edged with a MS punch.  I used the set of my favourite Marianne dies to create the centre-piece, to that I added the champagne glasses. The large satin bow added a finishing touch along with the little heart.  I also made a wallet,, sadly I took the picture at night with the flash and the colours look entirely different. A Book Card for my Grandson

Hello Everyone, Hopefully you are all keeping safe and warm during this awful weather we have been having recently.  Believe it or not I have been in my craft room most of the time, sometimes just wondering what to do, but I did spend a lot of time making my Eldest Grandson  ( Annie's Son ) a book card for his 27th Birthday to-morrow.  Most of you have seen my book cards before, but as they take a lot of card, I don't make them too often.  The actual book itself was made with heavy black card and the outer covers and the spine were made from card and metal tape.  I then embossed it and painted it with black acrylic paint, I let it dry slightly before wiping it of with kitchen paper, it allows only the indents to take on the paint and gives it a pewter look.  I then rusted some Tim Holtz hinges and added them to book. The tag was one that I had created earlier and I added it to the front. The inside was made using cream card that was folded to make it look like pages and I distressed then with Vintage Photo distress ink. I added my sentiment before adding the folded frame on top, then using a piece of acetate and a silver frame to cover the acetate.  I wanted to add some cash, so I made a little ATC card with a small piece of card on the back to slot it in. I made the box to hold the book so that it would not get damaged.  Probably by this time you are all as confused as me after writing this post. Sorry if it seemed a bit  long winded as most of you like me want to know how things are done.  Now I have an Engagement card to finish before starting some wedding cards.  Please Take Care of yourselves and Keep Safe and Warm too.   Hugs Rita xx

Shop Till you Drop

Well folks ,at last I managed a card. Not my usual kind of card mind you, but I was asked to do a card with a shopping theme to it and this what came to mind. Its a digi stamp from Kenny K, called Madison Attitude. As most of you know I struggle with colouring images. I used the Spectrum Noir pens for this one and the colour wheel to help with the colours. Both backgrounds were embossed and layered on to some white shimmer card. The sentiments were computer generated. Still got some learning  to do on the hair though.  To-day I am back in my comfort zone and finishing off a book card for my eldest Grandson, who will be 27 on Wednesday, where do the years go I wonder.  The last 3 days have been lovely here on the West Coast and the spring flowers are beginning to peep through.  I hope you are all enjoying your week-end.  Hugs Rita xxxx
