A Little Paper Journal

Hello Again, I have been back in my Craft Room, probably something to do with awful depressing weather of late. Just to warn you this post is just a little bit photo heavy because its a journal.  Last Thursday Annie and I had a Craft Day with our very close friend Astrid McLean  who most of you will know already through her Art Work. However, it was Annie that decided she would show us how to make this little journal and it was such fun to make. Mine is a Junk Journal as its mainly bits and pieces Ive kept for years meaning someday to use them up. We really had so much fun making them too. Anything goes is probably a good title for mine. I have lots of journals to finish all at different stages and for different things. I'll just get on and show you what I have done. It measures 4" X 4" and I used a Nepalese Mountain cloth paper for mine, but you could use Kraft card as that would be nice too, then just do whatever you like. Pearl Anniversary Card

Today I would like to show a card I was asked to make by my daughter Carolyn  for a lovely couple who were celebrating their 30th Anniversary last weekend.  Seemingly it is a Pearl one so I did add lots of pearls to the card. Again I used an 8 X 8 card and added a beautiful paper as a backing for the card. I used my favourite heart die once again,  and cut it twice, with some small doilies I layered the hearts on top. some beautiful lace that is white but looks very creamy in the photo. After adding some pearls and a fancy heart die-cut my card was finished.  Hugs Rita xxx

60th Birthday Card

Hello from a Sunny Ayrshire today after a week of the most horrendous weather,  mind you tomorrow is forecasting snow and sleet.  My eyesight is still recovering from a really bad bout of vertigo the first attack for over 2 years.  However, enough of my moans and on to a card that I made for a friends 60th Birthday on the 10th February. I used an 8 X 8 card for this one so I could decorate it with orchids made with JND flower paper. The large heart is from Nellie Snellen years ago but it's a saviour for lots of cards. CCC Challenge 4 ; A Christmas Carol

Good Morning Crafters. Here we are into Challenge 4 already. Now this time it was Our lovely Christine that chose the theme and she would like to see A Christmas Carol.  So believe it or not I have made three cards this time.  The first one was from a Charles Dickens print that I have had for a good few years and I printed in Black and White before adding it on to my 8 X 8 base card and matted and layered with Black and Silver . Using the same image again I distressed it with Gathered Twigs to give it a sepia look before adding it to a Cream 6 X 6 card  matted with gold card.  The third card is another print O come All ye Faithful as its always been a favourite in our family at Christmas. 6 X6 card matted with gold and white and finished off with a nice red bow.  Looking forward to seeing the rest of the ladies cards and if you wish to have a look they can be found on my side bar.
Thinking and hoping that none of you had damage done by the storms as its been a dreadful time for lots of families. I had a busy week as I was asked to sing at a Burns Supper ran by our local Rotary, thankfully it went well and I had a lovely night with all the members.  Hugs Rita xxx

Butterfly Card

Well my efforts at trying to find my Mojo have finally paid off.  So today I am showing the results of a card I made for my box as it has been lying empty for months.  The base card is a White 8 X 8  that I matted and layered with Olive Green and Dark Brown card.  Then using  oxide inks I began to get some colour on to my white card, then I used some stencils from AALL & Create and structure paste.  I then stamped my sentiment directly on to my card. The beautiful butterfly was a die from Tim Holtz a few years ago. so with the addition of a few flowers my card was finished. Got lots of Birthday and Anniversaries looming, so I will keep myself busy with those.  Hopefully you are all managing to stay safe in this awful windy and wet weather.  Hugs Rita xxx

Christmas Card Club Challenge 3 : Stars

Well another 2 weeks have past and we are now into February, not being a lover of January I am feeling better already. Spring is on its way with  lots of buds starting to show as well.
Anyway, our challenge this time is Stars and was chosen by the lovely Sylvie. My first card is created using a stencil from Imagination Crafts from a few years ago now. I used a white 8 X 8 as my base card and layered with silver, white, then dark blue that I used to stencil my stars using Izink Diamond paste.  Peace sentiment was then added along with a pretty angel by La Blanche whose work I like. I added a few diamontes to add some more twinkles and that is my finished card. The second one is a card I recieved last year and loved it so as it has stars I decided to cut it up and  rejig it into a smaller card with the addition of a few gold pearls. Hope you are all well and enjoying some craft time. I am so busy knitting just now, a babys shawl, ladies socks and fingerless mitts for gifts. Hugs Rita xxxx
