Ophelia Wall Hanging

Good Morning folks, and it certainly is, here on the West Coast of Scotland.  I cannot believe our holiday begins on Sunday.  So this will be my last post till I return, hopefully revitalized and replenished if this heatwave continues.
This was a Wall Hanging I made for my dear friend Anne ( redanne) for her Birthday. We became friends just after Anne started her blog, and share lots of similarities in our life too.  She absolutely loved it and has kindly allowed me to show you what I have done.  I started by using one of my recycled corrugated frames and painted it with gesso, then I added weathered wood and antique linen distress paint. When dry I used some treasured gold and patina wax to age it a little. The stamp I used was from Stampsmith called Ophelia and its such a stunning.stamp.  I die cut a gold frame from SB Enchanted labels 28 before adding my image at the back. The corners I tarnished a bit too, before adding my handmade roses and flowers that were carefully distressed very lightly with Barn Door DI. The leafy sprays are from Cheery Lynn. I think Ophelia just loved being surrounded with flowers.  The chain was bought from a bead shop in the town where we are going on holiday., so another visit there is in the offing.   Hopefully I have covered everything to let you know how I made my hanging.   Keep Well my Friends and I'll see you all when I return.  I'll try to comment whilst I'm away.    Loads of Hugs.  Rita xxx

French Industrial card

Good Afternoon folks.  Absolutely wonderful spell of Summer weather.  I hope you are all making the most of it.   Its cooler in my craft room than it is outside, even under the parasol.
This is Ronnie's birthday to-day ( 21 again )  and I'm glad to report he is enjoying it. The last 2 weeks have seen a miraculous change ,considering all he's been through. So this is the card I made him, all from the Tim Holtz Paper Pad called French Industrial.  Its fabulous papers, and the only extras I used were elements from Wooden Embellies,( sorry if I got the name wrong. ) and one of Tim's cog wheels.  You will notice I've opted out of buying a present again,  but truly I'd rather they choose what they want for themselves.

Birthday Book card

Hello folks.  Hopefully you are all able to enjoy the wonderful sunshine. I rarely sit in the sun, but under the parasol and I'm ok.  Where on earth are the weeks flying to. We go on holiday next weekend ,so hopefully I can recharge the old batteries for some new ones. 
To-day was my dear hubby's birthday and I made him what was called a book card years ago, but now it has a different name.  He loves his music, so it was very apt to add something musical into his card. I gave him some money and he can have a spend when he feels like it.  Me, it would burn a hole in my pocket, only because of my oversized wishlist,although it has reduced considerably since last week.

William Morris Tissue box.

Hello Dear Blog Friends, Isn't it just fantastic weather we're having at the moment.  Much to hot for me, even to craft.  I'm showing a tissue box I made for Carolyn, as she has one wall in her sitting room papered with this William Morris paper.  I got the leftover paper and made her  the box to match the room. Its so good to see this great artist making a come back after all those years.

My favourite rose has just bloomed and still has another bud to open.  The boot has a plant called Spanish Eyes and today it has even more blooms on it.   Hope Everyone is getting out in the sunshine while it lasts.  Hugs Rita xxxx

Celebrations all Round

Good Afternoon Folks.  Isn't this weather just what we asked for. It really is Hot Hot Hot outside, not complaining at all.  After all the Celebrations yesterday,  I've just about came back to reality.

Huge Congratulations to Andy Murray and what a show he put on for all us tennis fans.

I'd also like to Thank You all for the kind Birthday Wishes on yesterday's post.  I must be one of the luckiest crafter's as I got so many beautiful cards and gifts from Family and Friends.  It's just great when you receive things you will use and cards you will treasure. I have boxes of cards that I have received over the years and I still love and treasure them.  I thought you might like to see how much my stash has grown overnight.  I still have more to come as DH gave me money and quick as a flash I spent it all.   I dearly hope you all enjoy your day, but for me I'll be in my craftroom working.   Hugs Rita xxx

Silver Wedding Card

Here we are the beginning of another week, aren't they flyng past.  Well I am another year older to-day and what a start to the day.  Lots of fabulous crafty things to play with from my dear friends ( you know who you are ) and of course my family who I love dearly.  
Now all I need to finish my day would be to see our very own Andy Murray winning the Wimbledon Men's Final, that would be the icing on the cake for me.
My card today is for my son Alisdair & my daughter-in-law Anne who celebrate their Silver Wedding in August.  They leave for a holiday the same day as their anniversary and I just come back from my holidays a few days before, so I better be on the ball with my July and August cards.
My base card is  8 X 8 white hammered card and I added two die cut borders to each side.  I then used the Diesire Embossing folder 'Elegance' that has a panel for ribbon etc.  I used organza ribbon with hearts down the centre that I bought ages ago. The addition of a couple of Spellbinder dies to finish my card, and of course I just had to add a crushed silk ribbon bow with one of my own made flowers.  I will add a box to keep the card safe and clean.

Baby Boy card

   

Good Afternoon my Friends in Blogland. Its a beautiful day here, but with a gentle breeze as well.. Not that I'll be moving far from my sofa today.  Our lad Andy Murray is playing his semi-final and most of Scotland will be egging him on to win.  C'mon Andy.
Today's card is one I made for a baby boy all because I love those little blue boots. Its decoupaged ,but only 3 layers to this one. Hope you like it.
Forgive me in keeping my post short today, but I must make a coffee and a scone in time for the start of the match.  I have been busy crafting ,but cannot show anything at the moment.    Have a Brilliant Week-End.  Hugs Rita xx

Summer Memories

What a terrible day it has been here with wind and rain.  I went with my friend to Glagow Royal Infirmiry on the 7.49 train this morning as she was having an MRI scan so I went to support her.  By the time we got home, we were both tired out as we did some shopping as well.
My creation to-day is definately not in my comfort zone as its a Chunky ATC measuring 3.5 X 2.5 inches. It's amazing what you find to put on one of these. Firstly I covered it with pieces of metal tape and marked it with some of my dressmaking items.  I added some alcohol inks to give it a bit of colour before adding on my bits and pieces that were all memories in one way or another from my childhood days on Islay.   The beaches there are beautiful, and Bruichladdich has a lighthouse just like this. We collected seashells in our tin bucket and took them home to play.  We also often put messages in a bottle and threw them in to the Atlantic breakers, hoping one day we would get a reply, we never did.  Port Charlotte had a little pier and there were always fishing boats in and out all day long. The picture of me at 8 years old is ancient by to-day's standards of digital photography.  The little wooden legs on my finished piece were old wooden beads from the 60's.   This reminds me of when I was a Girl Guide and we were given an empty matchbox and had to put as many things as you could fit inside.  I'll not bore you with anymore of my chatter.   Thank-you All for the lovely posts yesterday on being a Winner at Frilly and Funkie with my first canvas.

What an Exciting Morning

Good Morning my Friendly Bloggers.  I know I've been playing hookey, but I make no apologies for being a big tennis fan and with this being the Wimbledon fortnight my seat is booked on the sofa.
However, with the news on Saturday that the great Tim Holtz was coming to the UK in August,  all stops were pulled out so I could get Annie tickets for this wonderful event. After phoning for over an hour this morning and the number was always engaged, Annie phoned me to say that she got tickets, and got one for me as well.  What a fabulous surprise.  How good a daughter is that.  So now we are both doing a happy dance around the house as we get our heads around it.  I was informed the hotel is booked as well, so hopefully we will meet some of you there.

My card to-day is a decoupage baby card as my box has only a few left in it.  When I started card-making decoupage was my first love and even yet I love to sit and cut out the details ready to make some cards.  The image for this one is from Card-making downloads and was a joy to make.  The picture does not show the decoupage to well, but I can assure you its there.  I left a space to add the baby's name later.
I need to go and try and calm down with a nice cup of tea.   Hope you are all well and managing to craft, or maybe like me you'll be watching Wimbledon to-day as well.    Hugs Rita xxx
