Christmas Card Club Challenge 16 is Trees

Hello My Dear friends and fellow bloggers.    Holidays over now but I'm struggling a bit with the heat,  as probably most of you are too.   It certainly has been a good spell of weather, wish I had a Cook and a Cleaner though.
My card today is one for the CCCC where our lovely Sylvie chose the theme  and it is 'Trees somewhere on your card'.   I started out with a 5 X 7 card and matted and layered it with Tartan paper before adding my stamped card.  The stamps are from a Sheens Douglass little bit scenic ' Pinescape ' that I have used quite a bit.   Background and Stamping were done using Distress Inks.   I added some glitter to the pine trees and on the snow,  but sadly its not showing up very well.  The sentiment is from Clarity and to that I added some Scottish thistles.    My lovely brother- in-law has very little sight and I thought he might like to feel the textures on this card.

The weather whilst we were on holiday was wonderful and Andrew got about on his scooter and it was me who had bother keeping up with him.  We were lucky to see the swans and their cygnets leaving the spot on the river where they nurtured their babies.   it was fun to watch them copying the mother swan.   I've also added a few pictures .    I'd also like to Thank everyone who sent me beautiful cards, gifts and messages for my recent Birthday,  I was well and truly spoiled.  I will show you some pictures on a later post.

Thank you All for bearing with me, and I'll be back soon.   Hugs Rita xxxx

This really is a lovely scene for a Christmas card Rita. Glad you enjoyed your holiday. I know what you mean about the heat. I got up very early to do the ironing hoping it would be a little cooler but no such luck I'm afraid. Take care. Christine xx

You've created a beautiful scene with the tree stamps, and the tartan background just sets it off. Thanks for sharing some of your holiday pictures, lovely spot by the look of things. Take care in the heat although hopefully it is supposed to get a bit cooler this week.

Hello Rita, I send you Happy belated Birthday greetings too. This is a lovely card you have made, I love the scene against the tarten frame and the addition of the thistles is such a thoughtful touch for your brother in law. I am so pleased you and Andrew had a good holiday and the weather was kind to you albeit maybe a little to warm. Your photos are lovely those swans have their work cut out chasing after six cygnets, so nice to see them though. Mo x

Hello Rita, a stunning card, I just love everything your done. The scene looks so Scottish especially with the tartan papers. The colours are so soft and muted. Your BIL will love it and what a thoughtful idea to make it tactile for him. Pleased to hear you had a lovely holiday and Andrew managed to get around fine on his scooter, hugs Kate x

Firstly the important thing - belated birthday greetings to you, Rita - hope you had a wonderful day. If you were enjoying all that lovely weather on holiday, I'm sure you did... though I agree the heat can be a bit much at times - yes, a cook and a cleaner is an excellent idea!!

Love the cool, fresh feel of your Scottish Highlands Christmas card. The stamping creates a great sense of depth - I love that pine branch overhead in the foreground - and the tartan frame is very cool!

Lovely to have you back!

I think it is great that you have added the texture so he can appreciate it even more.My FIL was legally blind for years and he always loved anything with texture as if did help him to visulaize!

I think those are the stamps that I got this week Rita! This is a fabulous card, the colours you have used are stunning and your scene reminds me of trips to Scotland when I was a child - I remember the beautiful lush greens, the wonderful colour of the heather - you have sent me to a good memory! I love your card and I hope you have a lovely week too Karen x

Hi Rita,
what a superb card. I love your version of the Christmas CC card.
The stamping in magnificent and the background is fab too.
Lovely fab pics of the swans, it reminds me of when we used to holiday on my brother in laws boat moored near Ely Cambridge.
The little ducks and swans with their ducklings and cygnets, but sadly each day few would be missing because the pike had ate them.
So glad your hubby is enjoying his scooter, mine has just gone for a hair cut on his.
Lots of crafty love. Jenny L.

Rita, so sorry to be late on CC commenting, and also missing your birthday, so belated Happy Birthday hugs to you. Your vacation pictures are wonderful, I so enjoyed seeing them. I'm glad you got to enjoy some quality time and see the beautiful scenery. Your card is beautiful, loved all the trees and what a considerate detail to add the texture with the thistles too. The purple haze of those faraway hills was done with such perspective, and your branch on the right side looked very dimensional the way you've stamped it. Hope you've gotten a little respite from the hot weather...guess your area is not used to the heat. I wish I had a cook, a housekeeper and a gardener - in that order. If DH ever should win the lottery, that's my wish list! TFS & Hugs
