Recycled Wall Hanging

Good Morning All.  We have glorious sunshine this morning although it still very windy and cold.  My post to-day is one that I never thought I could do.  Whilst browsing in a well known supermarket I came across what I thought to be something for sale, but on a closer look it was actually packaging that had been between children's books.  So I promptly found the manager and asked if I could have them, and she said of course take as many as you want. So here is what I created from what was set to go in the bin.  All I did was carefully strip the top layer off and even that was not hard to do. I painted it all over with white Acrylic paint and left it to dry before distressing with inks. I also added some lovely pan pastels before using Creative Expressions metallic gilding wax in Enchanted Gold, it gave my piece such wonderful highlights and I think you'll agree it also enhanced the creation.  I made the roses in different sizes and gave them the wax treatment also.
Then I had to do something with the centre, so I used a page from an old book and distressed it a bit before adding my stamped image from Crafty Individuals to give it the look that I was after.  The corner were from my stash and I have no idea where I bought them.  I should have said I used some more plain cardboard packaging to add to the back.  I'm really thrilled with how it all turned out.
Hope you all have a lovely week-end and enjoy whatever you do.  I'm back to some hand-stitching.
Hugs Rita xxxxx

The Challenge entered is Eclectic Paperie : Corrugated Cardboard

This was what I saw and was curious about and it turned into a wall hanging. ( below)

Wow Rita, this is fabulous! I love it. Must have a browse in Sainsbury's next time I shop! I actually did the same in my local haberdashers last year. I needed some ribbon reels for Christmas decorations and so I asked him if he had any going spare. He produced a big bag and said help yourself, they're going in the bin. Love from Christine x

GORGEOUS and I love the fact the base was a freebie. Beautiful use of products (I am keen to try gilding wax) and the CI stamp is so perfect for the style.
Adore this.
