Vintage Style Card

Good Morning Everyone.  Monday again , the weeks are sadly passing by so quickly.  Anyway, my card to-day was made, no started on Saturday after finding a box of toppers from the 40's/50's era. The particular one that caught my eye was for Bear Brand stockings and made me smile as that was the first pair of nylons I ever bought.  Well, that's not strictly true, as my friends and I heard that a famous Glasgow market was selling black market  glass nylons very cheap, so we duly saved up and made the trip to buy the nylons and of course we couldn't wait to get back home and try them on, only to find they had no feet, what a con.  I can still hear my father laughing yet.
Anyway, on to my card, 'tis an 8 X 8 and the background was created by using an Embossalicious large swirl folder that I distressed with inks and finished it off with some treasured gold.  The borders were made with a Tonic lace punch ( so easy to use ) and the the Tim Holtz large half doily was borrowed from Annie and all were distressed with Tea dye.  Most of Saturday evening was spent making flowers as my flower box was empty after Molly was down last month.  So I distressed one of the roses with tea dye and made a lace backing to give it the look that I wanted.  The beautiful pins were a gift from my dear blog friend Sassy who makes them herself along with the most fabulous cards.  I added a few pearls and a bow and this is the finished card.
I hope you all know by now just how much I appreciate your lovely comments and I will always try to return the compliment.   Enjoy your Day.   Hugs Rita xxxx

You made me chuckle about the nylons with no feet! I remember something when I was a teenager in the sixties and diamond pattern stockings were being sold on the market - except it turned out the two stockings actually had different patterned mesh!!! Lovely nostalgic card Rita and lovely colours. The pins are a really nice touch. Christine xx

I remember visiting the famous Barras years ago, my dad called it a right flea pit but we visited all the way from Fife. Love your card brings back memories. Love the stick pins, I have just started making them and adding them to my cards.

What a really wonderful card - so many people will remember Bear Brand. My mum had a shop and I remember she also sold Ballito Fully Fashioned Stockings.

Hi Rita, I love your story about the stocking, not funny really but it did give me a giggle. Your vintage card is absolutely stunning, love that Timmy die at the top, not seen that one! The pins are beautiful - very clever of your friend to make them. Hope you are keeping warm, it is snowing here! Hugs, Anne x

Beautiful card Rita, love all the elements to it.
Now Rita, I've never heard of glass nylons, what were they like? Dare I ask if it was before my time? ! I'm the big 60 in a couple of months . My first job was in a big store in Glasgow called Copland & lye and I was the junior in the hosiery dept. All stockings were in tissue and boxes. It really was an other era, Kate x

What a gorgeous vintage card... the doily and all the lacy punching looks beautiful! I love the vintage advert, and your story about the footless stockings - in the dance world, you could've just pretended they were meant to be that way... very fashionable!!
