Altered Bottles

Hello Everyone.   Here we are into another month and the sun is shining in between snow showers,   but now we are officially in to Spring.
Well,  today I am showing you my first Altered Bottles that I started whilst spending a crafty day with Annie & Astrid just over a week ago,   Now to them this comes easily as they are both very much in to mixed media art and to me,  well, I hadn't a clue.   The only bottles I could find were a Maple Syrup bottle and a very tall slim Olive Oil bottle, so I took them along and hoped that maybe I could alter them in some way.   I really should have taken before and after pictures and then you could see the changes take place.   I coated both bottles with gesso and after it dried,  I used some texture paste and crackle medium to give my bottles some texture.   Allow it to dry and paint with your chosen paint etc.   The rest I did at home after leaving them to dry overnight.   The fun part was adding my decorative features and of course I just couldn't stop.  The top of the smaller one was made from a large wooden ball from my stash and the top for the tall one was made from metal flowers.    I really enjoyed do this and now look forward to doing some arty things as a change from cards.   Lots of pictures on this post too.    Hope you like what I've done.   My time in the next few days will be taken up with hospital visits, so I may not get on again this week.   Waiting for my PC guy to arrive and hopefully get me working again at full speed.      Take Care.    Hugs Rita xxxx

What great altering Rita. Your tall one has a Nautical feel with the stripes and your smaller one such pretty Vintage. Looking forward to seeing more mixed media from you.

Oh my goodness Rita, you have so nailed this on the head. Not quite sure what I was expecting from the bottles you said you had but it certainly wasn't these two beauties. I love, love, love them both for such different reasons. Can't wait to see what your nimble fingers produce next. hugs Mrs A.

Rita these are absolutely AMAZING. I would not have a clue where to start either.
However you had two good teachers to help with the basics. Once you got the idea you were off and running from what I can see.
Will be thinking about you both.
Hugs a plenty

Oh wow Rita, you have done the most fabulous job with both bottles! I love them both - the first is so full of romance and beauty and the second reminds me of a lighthouse (I adore lighthouses). You are a real natural at this!

Hope the hospital visits bring good news.... Big hugs, Anne xxx

Rita
I am so impressed with both bottles. You achieved such amazing results.
I agree with Anne, when I viewed the second, for some reason a lighthouse popped into mind. Anyway, I think both are amazing but of course, I have fallen head over heels in love with the romance of the first bottle.
Rita, will be thinking of you, hope all goes well with the hospital visits.
Wishes
Lynne

These are lovely Rita. It's great to try something new and out of our comfort zone once in a while and learn new things.

I just love both these, Rita - what fun you must have had playing with Astrid and Annie. The textures and effects on both are really fabulous, but I'm particularly drawn to the tall thin bottle - so original in its decoration... I love the bold red and gold rings on the pale blue crackly background. Wonderful! (No sign of missing mojo here!!)
